Best Wedding Venues Melbourne | Wedding Venues Melbourne

A few of Karine Hart’s favourites…

As a Marriage Celebrant, I quite often get asked where the best or where my favourite wedding venues are in Melbourne… So, here are some of my favourites  (in no particular order), where I enjoy officiating marriages. There are so many options in Melbourne and these are just a few I enjoy visiting, including areas in bayside, and the Dandenong Ranges.

Brighton Savoy

I have worked here a few times over the years and simply love The Brighton Savoy. Depending on your guest numbers and the availability, there are various locations to choose to have your ceremony within this bayside venue, such as the Gala Atrium, Wellington Room or the Seaview Courtyard. You can then pop across the road if you like and have some beach photos taken before enjoying your wedding reception with delicious food options! Accommodation is also available.

Sails on the Bay

In beautiful bayside Elwood, Sails on the Bay is great for those wanting a beach vibe wedding, whilst being sheltered from the elements. It’s on the foreshore in Elwood and the terrace space and the private dining room are beautiful and light filled so capturing great memories is a breeze. With the option of easily heading onto the beach front before your wedding reception begins (and perhaps at sunset), you’ll have no shortage of awesome photos of your special day!

Tatra Receptions

I really enjoy working in the Dandenong Ranges and Tatra Receptions is perfect for those wanting a secluded spot to host their wedding. With the option of outdoor area (the cupola) or the chapel with floor to ceiling windows, it’s a perfect spot no matter what season it is!  The cozy Ballroom features stunning views of the gardens, for everyone to enjoy during the reception. Accommodation is also available.

Marybrooke Manor

This lovely venue situated near Sherbrooke Forest has the option of a sunken garden which has a lot of character. With an old-English style vibe, Marybrooke Manor is an option for those wanting a traditional wedding and even has a wine garden where your guests can enjoy pre dinner drinks! The gardens are beautifully manicured and look wonderful no matter what the season is. Accommodation is also available.

Old Cheese Factory Berwick

A lovely historic venue in Berwick with a story to tell! The Old Cheese Factory is perfect for those wanting a relaxed vibe on their big day. The gardens are cheery and colourful and you have the option of using the indoor chapel in case of inclement weather. The photo opportunities are endless here with the historic buildings and the ceremony set up  is always proficient. Reception options can include Marquee (or even Tipi Hire!)

Tim & Lara’s wedding at The National Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda

Tim & Lara’s wedding at The National Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda

Tim and Lara met with me last year to discuss their upcoming wedding for 18th October 2014 . Straight away, I could see there was lots of humour, fun and great vibe between them both.

When we caught up to discuss their ceremony preferences, I was really happy to hear their story of how they met and their relationship developing, before an unforgettable proposal 9 years on… This was going to form part of their personalised ceremony and their big day soon came around.

Their ceremony was held in the Camellia Garden of The National Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda in the Dandenong Ranges. My husband Jason came along and captured the fun of it all!

“After years of enduring burger rings and cheezels as an ‘engagement ring’, Lara was excited to have the real deal and made it facebook official before calling everyone.”

Tim and Lara read out their personal vows… Both of which were truly heartfelt with a bit of added humour (of course!)

“I promise to keep you guessing so you never get bored but I can’t promise I won’t do something dumb from time to time…”

“With you I have learned to take it slow, although I could have dealt with getting to the alter a little faster…”

Tim’s best man Grant then bought the rings forward…. upon opening the box, Lara’s ring fell out and, you guessed it, the laughs continued on…. and on…. and on.

A bit of video footage was taken of this too… stay tuned for that!

Luckily the ring was quickly spotted in the grass and Tim was able to eventually wipe his tears of laughter away to continue. Needless to say, it was truly an unforgettable moment.

A unity sand ceremony followed before Tim was able to seal the deal by kissing his beautiful bride Lara (along with giving her a couple of token bum squeezes.)

Tim and Lara enjoyed the whole process of developing their ceremony to suit their down to earth and easy going nature and I had so much fun with them both!
