Best Wedding Venues Melbourne | Wedding Venues Melbourne

A few of Karine Hart’s favourites…

As a Marriage Celebrant, I quite often get asked where the best or where my favourite wedding venues are in Melbourne… So, here are some of my favourites  (in no particular order), where I enjoy officiating marriages. There are so many options in Melbourne and these are just a few I enjoy visiting, including areas in bayside, and the Dandenong Ranges.

Brighton Savoy

I have worked here a few times over the years and simply love The Brighton Savoy. Depending on your guest numbers and the availability, there are various locations to choose to have your ceremony within this bayside venue, such as the Gala Atrium, Wellington Room or the Seaview Courtyard. You can then pop across the road if you like and have some beach photos taken before enjoying your wedding reception with delicious food options! Accommodation is also available.

Sails on the Bay

In beautiful bayside Elwood, Sails on the Bay is great for those wanting a beach vibe wedding, whilst being sheltered from the elements. It’s on the foreshore in Elwood and the terrace space and the private dining room are beautiful and light filled so capturing great memories is a breeze. With the option of easily heading onto the beach front before your wedding reception begins (and perhaps at sunset), you’ll have no shortage of awesome photos of your special day!

Tatra Receptions

I really enjoy working in the Dandenong Ranges and Tatra Receptions is perfect for those wanting a secluded spot to host their wedding. With the option of outdoor area (the cupola) or the chapel with floor to ceiling windows, it’s a perfect spot no matter what season it is!  The cozy Ballroom features stunning views of the gardens, for everyone to enjoy during the reception. Accommodation is also available.

Marybrooke Manor

This lovely venue situated near Sherbrooke Forest has the option of a sunken garden which has a lot of character. With an old-English style vibe, Marybrooke Manor is an option for those wanting a traditional wedding and even has a wine garden where your guests can enjoy pre dinner drinks! The gardens are beautifully manicured and look wonderful no matter what the season is. Accommodation is also available.

Old Cheese Factory Berwick

A lovely historic venue in Berwick with a story to tell! The Old Cheese Factory is perfect for those wanting a relaxed vibe on their big day. The gardens are cheery and colourful and you have the option of using the indoor chapel in case of inclement weather. The photo opportunities are endless here with the historic buildings and the ceremony set up  is always proficient. Reception options can include Marquee (or even Tipi Hire!)

How do I change my name once married?

How do I change my name once married?

A question that I get asked very often is “how do I change my name once married?”

This is answered in detail at our first meeting. Here is a quick and easy explanation for you.

On the wedding day after the ceremony, we sign 3 certificates (the Official Certificate of Marriage, my Register and a Keepsake Certificate).

After the ceremony, I present you with the keepsake certificate. As you cannot use this certificate as evidence to change your name, you may choose to frame it and put it somewhere special.

After the wedding day, I will submit your paperwork to Births, Deaths & Marriages of Victoria which includes the Official Certificate of Marriage.

As I submit the information online also, I can keep track of the registration and advise when your marriage has been officially registered. (Generally allow 4 – 8 weeks).

I will send you the link so you can then order your Official Certificate of Marriage.

You can use a standard marriage certificate as proof of your wedding for official purposes, such as changing your name on a passport or driver licence.

BDM can only issue a marriage certificate once the marriage is registered in Victoria.

Once you receive the Official Certificate of Marriage, you are then able to use this as evidence of your marriage and request the name change.

In a nutshell, once you are married and the marriage is registered, it is legally recognised. It is up to you to order your certificate to then have your name changed to your new married name.

It is a personal choice to change your name once you are married and there is no obligation to do so.

I hope that has answered the question of “how do I change my name once married”.

If you need clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Melbourne Wedding of Becca & Wade

I had so much fun working with Becca and Wade in the lead up to and on their wedding day!
As I was the celebrant for Becca’s sister, it was really lovely to be a part of the family celebrations once more.
Becca and Wade chose to have their Melbourne Wedding at Beau Monde International.

During the asking, I started asking Wade if he would take Becca to be his lawfully wedded wife and before I could finish my sentence, he was quick to reply “I Do”!!!

Not surprisingly, this made all the guests (including myself) laugh out loud and the relaxed atmosphere was just perfect for this celebration.  The ‘I do’s” continued for a little while before they exchanged their vows…
After the ring ceremony, Becca and Wade performed the unity sand ceremony in matching theme colours of passion (purple) and midnight (black), provided by Jacki from Candles for Ceremonies & Celebrations.

After the ceremony, it was great to be invited in a few photos taken by Mark Teague Photography! Mark and I have worked together a few times over the years and it is always fun and fuss free working alongside him.

So… another lovely couple tied the knot over the weekend and I feel truly privileged to have seen the family again and be involved in such a special moment in their lives.

I wish Wade and Becca all the very best and thank them for choosing me as their celebrant for the Melbourne Wedding.
