Scott and Megan’s wedding at The Brighton Savoy

Scott and Megan…. so much fun is pretty much them in a nutshell! Our meetings included a lot of laughter and it was no surprise to see their light hearted theme come together so well in the Wellington Room at the Brighton Savoy.
Before we started, I had to get a token selfie with the groom!

It was a rainy January day but it didn’t deter anyone from enjoying themselves in the indoor comfort of the venue.

Comfort was a big factor in shoe wear also with the boys wearing Vans and Megan wearing her yellow converse!
DJ Bruce Harrison also created this awesome light feature for the day…

Beautiful flower arrangements were created by Scott’s Aunt.

Both Scott and Megan wrote their own heartfelt vows.

We included a sand ceremony using blue and red to match their fun superman theme!

Before the ceremony ended, I had the pleasure of reading one of my favourite Dr Seuss quotes:-

“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”

Chris & Angie’s Melbourne Wedding at Red Scooter

Chris and Angie were keen to have an easy going time in the lead up to their wedding day. We made sure that there were always laughs and fun during our meetings, knowing that their Melbourne wedding would soon arrive and be a festive celebration!

Chris and Angie chose to celebrate their Melbourne Wedding at the eclectic Red Scooter in Balaclava and the atmosphere was truly lively!

As Angie walked down the aisle in her beautifully designed knee length dress, made by her mother Sonia, she was cheered on by the guests and had a smile from ear to ear!

In one word, the ceremony was FUN! We shared lots of different emotions and it was great to have a variety of elements throughout the service. Most importantly, adding their ‘bit of history‘ proved to add a great light hearted feel amongst everyone.

“Decked out in tracksuit pants, watching the Simpsons and eating left over Chinese, they talked about their future together…..”

“Angie and Chris complement each other well… on one hand, Angie is super organised and loves doing cultural activities, whilst on the other hand, Chris is slightly disorganised and loves the adventurous side in life”

Chris and Angie chose to have the wonderfully talented Darin Collison to photograph memories, and Stu and Beth from Stu Art Video Productions were there to capture the emotion of the day with videography.

Before the formalities concluded, Chris and Angie chose this great quote by Albert Einstein:

“Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can it explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That is relativity.”

Melbourne Wedding of Becca & Wade

I had so much fun working with Becca and Wade in the lead up to and on their wedding day!
As I was the celebrant for Becca’s sister, it was really lovely to be a part of the family celebrations once more.
Becca and Wade chose to have their Melbourne Wedding at Beau Monde International.

During the asking, I started asking Wade if he would take Becca to be his lawfully wedded wife and before I could finish my sentence, he was quick to reply “I Do”!!!

Not surprisingly, this made all the guests (including myself) laugh out loud and the relaxed atmosphere was just perfect for this celebration.  The ‘I do’s” continued for a little while before they exchanged their vows…
After the ring ceremony, Becca and Wade performed the unity sand ceremony in matching theme colours of passion (purple) and midnight (black), provided by Jacki from Candles for Ceremonies & Celebrations.

After the ceremony, it was great to be invited in a few photos taken by Mark Teague Photography! Mark and I have worked together a few times over the years and it is always fun and fuss free working alongside him.

So… another lovely couple tied the knot over the weekend and I feel truly privileged to have seen the family again and be involved in such a special moment in their lives.

Ben and Aislin’s Autumn Wedding at Royal Botanic Gardens

Ben and Aislin’s Autumn Wedding at Royal Botanic Gardens

Ben & Aislin were married at Picnic Point at the Royal Botanic Gardens in May 2014.

Their fitting theme they described to me was ‘autumn colours’. I was excited to see it all come together, as like myself, they love the colour orange!

Wanting a relaxed and informal ceremony, I knew I would be able to help them. We had a great time catching up with each other in the lead up to the wedding day, and I knew it was going to be a wonderful occasion for everyone involved!

ceremony in melbourne

The day came and we were lucky that it was a perfect autumn day with no rain in site! Peter and Denise from The Wedding Zone arrived to style and transform the site into an even more beautiful ceremony spot.

Guests arrived, followed by Ben and his best man Tom. The atmosphere was relaxed and it wasn’t long before we could see the girls arriving.

As they entered to a lovely version of Canon in D, there were a lot of ‘wows’ in the crowd. Along with Aislin, who was a stunning bride, she had her four sisters as the bridesmaids and as they were in different autumn leaf shades, the effect was gorgeous!

Sharing their love story of ten years proved to be quite fun. Guests were treated to hearing the story of the proposal and what they look forward to once married…..

Ben and Aislin wrote their own vows which included lots of emotion as well as a bit of cheekiness!

Here are part of Ben’s :-

To kiss you goodnight and warm your hands when they’re cold

To feed the cats if you get home late…mainly because they won’t stop hassling me until I do.

Here are part of Aislin’s:-

I promise to care for you and protect you as you care for and protect me in return.

I promise to always laugh at your jokes, even after hearing them for the tenth time.

Their service included a sand ceremony and three readings by family members.

Ian & Laura’s autumn wedding at Werribee Mansion.

Ian & Laura’s autumn wedding at Werribee Mansion. 12th April 2014

Ian and Laura initially met with me in a year before their big day.

I clearly remember them saying they wanted a relaxed ceremony and knew I would be able to help them with that request!

werribee mansion

Our second meeting was lots of fun! I really enjoyed hearing their story so I could then incorporate it into their service. After a few pages of writing notes, and getting to know them better, I was able to put together their personalised ceremony and email them a draft.

With a couple of amendments and after receiving their personalised vows, Ian and Laura’s ceremony was complete and it wasn’t long before the big day was here!

Upon arriving at Werribee Mansion, I walked to the lemon scented gums where the ceremony was to be held. It was a perfect autumn day and I was greeted by Dean the Videographer who was a family friend, and Madeleine in the talented string quartet who was organised by Tom from Mr Boutique .

Ian and his four groomsmen looked quite relaxed and happy. After he greeted his mother Karen, Ian’s emotion set in and there were tears along with laughter. I knew that today would be a great ceremony to be part of, simply because of the sincerity and support from the family and friends and the connection shared between Ian and Laura.

After having a quick catch up with the lovely photographer Karina Jade, it was time to get the boys organised ready for the girls’ arrival.

As the string quartet began playing, the beautiful bridesmaids Eliza and Ellen walked down the path followed by Laura’s maid of honour and sister Erica. Laura then made her grand entrance with her father Michael by her side, and Ian could not take his eyes off his bride to be.

The unplugged ceremony began and with a welcome, the bridal party were acknowledged and thanked for being part of the wedding.

ceremony

Following the parental blessing and introduction, I was then able to share Ian and Laura’s story which was well received with some tears as well as laughter. A real highlight was that Ian organised the proposal in Tasmania so Laura could share the happy news in person to her beloved nan whom she shares a close bond with.

Ian and Laura wrote their own heartfelt vows and it was such an honour to witness them reading these to each other. With such poise and sincerity, both declared their commitment to each other, with a bit of added humour.

Part of Ian’s vows:-

You are absolutely gorgeous.

(Obviously. Look at you.)

Your understated humour brings me uncharacteristically to tears in fits of laughter…

werribee mansion

And part of Laura’s vows:-

I love that we are best friends.

You always make me feel beautiful, even when I don’t think I am.

I love our little furry family. Turning you into a cat person was the best thing I ever did!

So, needless to say,  I was really happy to help Ian and Laura during such an important part of their lives.

“Hi Karine,

We would just like to say a huge thank you for all of the work you put in to make our wedding ceremony so fantastic.

We really appreciate the time you took to get to know us and formulate a ceremony that reflected us in every way. We also really loved your friendly, positive and ‘can-do’ attitude. We knew that if anything went wrong on the day you would be able to handle it for us, probably without us even knowing. Luckily, nothing went wrong!

We were so happy with the service we received from you and really enjoyed the whole process.

Thankyou again; we had the most wonderful day and you played an important role in making it that way.”

When I met with Chloe and Mitchell last year, I knew that this was going to be a fun wedding for everyone involved. Each meeting had lots of laughter and enjoyment and I really had a great time putting together their personalised relaxed ceremony.

Their wedding was held in the stunning Gala Atrium at The Brighton Savoy and as guests arrived, it was time to chat to the boys and get them ready for the girls’ arrival.

As the ceremony was about to start, I could see that everyone was in such high spirits! There were cheers and well wishes as Chloe entered the room with her mother and brother by her side to the beautiful 1000 Years

Their personalised story had a bit of everything, lots of love, lots of humour and lots of emotion all round.

Celebration at Avalon Castle | Commitment Ceremony

same sex marriage melbourne

Kristy & Mandi’s Commitment Ceremony

Kristy and Mandi first met with me in 2012 to discuss their upcoming commitment ceremony. I could see straight away that these girls were going to have a magnificent celebration and I enjoyed meeting with them to discuss their ceremony preferences.

It turned out to be 40 degrees on the day but everyone was very excited to be a witness in the beautiful grounds of Avalon Castle in Cockatoo. With 8 bridesmaids and 3 pageboys to support them both, it was going to be an emotional day for everyone.

The girls chose an instrumental rendition of A Thousand Years to walk down the aisle to. Kristy wanted to walk down first with her father Craig so she could then take it all in and watch Mandi arrive.

When the time came for Mandi to arrive, she got a glimpse of Kristy and she too was overwhelmed. With her father James by her side, she said to Kristy “you look beautiful” and the ceremony then commenced.

Commitment Ceremony Melbourne

I shared their story to the guests which included some laughter, before they recited their heartfelt vows to each other and exchanged rings.

Their service also included a rose ceremony. Their mothers, Cheryl and Robyn presented them each with a rose, which has the symbolic meaning of “I love you”.

The time soon came for the end of the ceremony. We signed a keepsake certificate and the celebration continued with photos and a cocktail reception.

Jon & Ainslie’s Wedding day at Encore St Kilda

st kilda wedding

The heat was on at the ceremony for Ainslie & Jon! Encore St Kilda

25th February 2012

Ainslie and Jon were an absolute pleasure to get to know and discuss their ideas for their ceremony. I always find the second meeting a lot of fun as this is where I generally will find out the story of how they met and the proposal to then start a draft. Ainslie and Jon’s story was definitely a enjoyable one….

On the day, Ainslie and her bridesmaids carried beautiful bright bouquets of various flowers.  The girls wore pretty navy blue dresses with stripey shoes! Meanwhile, although the boys wanted to wear their jackets for the ceremony, I did insist they have them off whilst we were waiting…. did not want to have anyone fainting!

encore st kilda

You can see the excitement in their eyes throughout the video and photos; and although it was a steaming 40 degrees that day on the rooftop of Encore St Kilda Beach, we still had a lot of laughs from the guests who enjoyed themselves as much as I did.

encore st kilda

The fact that Ainslie did not stop smiling and acknowledging her family and friends with a beaming grin and laughter made it all the more wonderful for us all.

Tatra Wedding

And the bride was wed in red at her Tatra Wedding!

Laura and Hayden chose to get married in March at the beautiful chapel at Tatra Receptions in Mount Dandenong.

Laura was walked down the aisle by her proud father Glen and as they entered the chapel, there were gasps as Laura looked breath taking in her ruby red dress. This was kept a secret to everyone- including myself, so even I looked at Hayden and said “WOW-She looks beautiful in red!”.

Bride in ruby red at Tatra Receptions

At their Tatra Wedding, Laura chose to walk down the aisle to Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap. Hayden could not stop smiling and was simply overwhelmed by her beauty. Glen made the giving of the bride a fun one by saying a few cheeky words. We all enjoyed it!

To tie in their request of having a relaxed and fun ceremony and allowing their guest to share a laugh, I wrote a bit about their story and how they met, the proposal and what they admire in each other. They wrote their own vows which were truly great to witness and the theme of Laura’s love of animals was evident throughout. Along with emotional tears, there was also a bit of laughter…

Here is a snippet of Hayden’s vows:-

From the first time we met I knew you were someone special. Over the years we have grown together and learned a lot about each other.

I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you. Your love of revenge movies and obsession with animals makes you my perfect match.

Here is a snippet of Laura’s vows:-

Hayden, you are the one for me. Nothing and no one compares to you – my real life Rambo – I fell in love with your unique spirit and outlook on life.

Throughout our life, I will work hard to remember where I have put your things after a cleaning frenzy; however, I can’t guarantee that I won’t ask for more animals.
