Ben and Aislin’s Autumn Wedding at Royal Botanic Gardens

Ben and Aislin’s Autumn Wedding at Royal Botanic Gardens

Ben & Aislin were married at Picnic Point at the Royal Botanic Gardens in May 2014.

Their fitting theme they described to me was ‘autumn colours’. I was excited to see it all come together, as like myself, they love the colour orange!

Wanting a relaxed and informal ceremony, I knew I would be able to help them. We had a great time catching up with each other in the lead up to the wedding day, and I knew it was going to be a wonderful occasion for everyone involved!

The day came and we were lucky that it was a perfect autumn day with no rain in site! Peter and Denise from The Wedding Zone arrived to style and transform the site into an even more beautiful ceremony spot.

Guests arrived, followed by Ben and his best man Tom. The atmosphere was relaxed and it wasn’t long before we could see the girls arriving.

As they entered to a lovely version of Canon in D, there were a lot of ‘wows’ in the crowd. Along with Aislin, who was a stunning bride, she had her four sisters as the bridesmaids and as they were in different autumn leaf shades, the effect was gorgeous!

Sharing their love story of ten years proved to be quite fun. Guests were treated to hearing the story of the proposal and what they look forward to once married…..

Ben and Aislin wrote their own vows which included lots of emotion as well as a bit of cheekiness!

Here are part of Ben’s :-

To kiss you goodnight and warm your hands when they’re cold

To feed the cats if you get home late…mainly because they won’t stop hassling me until I do.

Here are part of Aislin’s:-

I promise to care for you and protect you as you care for and protect me in return.

I promise to always laugh at your jokes, even after hearing them for the tenth time.

Their service included a sand ceremony and three readings by family members.

Before we knew it, it was time for Ben to kiss his new bride and sign the register to one of their favourite songs “Distant Sun” by Crowded House.

Since meeting Ben and Aislin a couple of years ago, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know them better and it’s been great seeing them after their wedding and honeymoon as a happily married couple.

Ian & Laura’s autumn wedding at Werribee Mansion.

Ian & Laura’s autumn wedding at Werribee Mansion. 12th April 2014

Ian and Laura initially met with me in a year before their big day.

I clearly remember them saying they wanted a relaxed ceremony and knew I would be able to help them with that request!

Our second meeting was lots of fun! I really enjoyed hearing their story so I could then incorporate it into their service. After a few pages of writing notes, and getting to know them better, I was able to put together their personalised ceremony and email them a draft.

With a couple of amendments and after receiving their personalised vows, Ian and Laura’s ceremony was complete and it wasn’t long before the big day was here!

Upon arriving at Werribee Mansion, I walked to the lemon scented gums where the ceremony was to be held. It was a perfect autumn day and I was greeted by Dean the Videographer who was a family friend, and Madeleine in the talented string quartet who was organised by Tom from Mr Boutique .

Ian and his four groomsmen looked quite relaxed and happy. After he greeted his mother Karen, Ian’s emotion set in and there were tears along with laughter. I knew that today would be a great ceremony to be part of, simply because of the sincerity and support from the family and friends and the connection shared between Ian and Laura.

After having a quick catch up with the lovely photographer Karina Jade, it was time to get the boys organised ready for the girls’ arrival.

As the string quartet began playing, the beautiful bridesmaids Eliza and Ellen walked down the path followed by Laura’s maid of honour and sister Erica. Laura then made her grand entrance with her father Michael by her side, and Ian could not take his eyes off his bride to be.

The unplugged ceremony began and with a welcome, the bridal party were acknowledged and thanked for being part of the wedding.

Following the parental blessing and introduction, I was then able to share Ian and Laura’s story which was well received with some tears as well as laughter. A real highlight was that Ian organised the proposal in Tasmania so Laura could share the happy news in person to her beloved nan whom she shares a close bond with.

Ian and Laura wrote their own heartfelt vows and it was such an honour to witness them reading these to each other. With such poise and sincerity, both declared their commitment to each other, with a bit of added humour.

Part of Ian’s vows:-

You are absolutely gorgeous.

(Obviously. Look at you.)

Your understated humour brings me uncharacteristically to tears in fits of laughter…

And part of Laura’s vows:-

I love that we are best friends.

You always make me feel beautiful, even when I don’t think I am.

I love our little furry family. Turning you into a cat person was the best thing I ever did!

So, needless to say,  I was really happy to help Ian and Laura during such an important part of their lives.

I wish them all the very best in the future and thank them for allowing me to share their story to their family and friends as their celebrant.

“Hi Karine,

We would just like to say a huge thank you for all of the work you put in to make our wedding ceremony so fantastic.

We really appreciate the time you took to get to know us and formulate a ceremony that reflected us in every way. We also really loved your friendly, positive and ‘can-do’ attitude. We knew that if anything went wrong on the day you would be able to handle it for us, probably without us even knowing. Luckily, nothing went wrong!

We were so happy with the service we received from you and really enjoyed the whole process.

Thankyou again; we had the most wonderful day and you played an important role in making it that way.”

Their wedding was held in the stunning Gala Atrium at The Brighton Savoy and as guests arrived, it was time to chat to the boys and get them ready for the girls’ arrival.

As the ceremony was about to start, I could see that everyone was in such high spirits! There were cheers and well wishes as Chloe entered the room with her mother and brother by her side to the beautiful 1000 Years

Their personalised story had a bit of everything, lots of love, lots of humour and lots of emotion all round.
